We all know that Google Adsense generates a small income and that Clickbank pays affiliates a percentage of any products that are sold via our affiliate links. I decided that of the two, I would rather have the Clickbank ads displayed on my blog, as it has the potential to earn me far more than Google Adsense.

I had noticed that some of the Masterclass students had Clickbank ads instead of Google Adsense. So yesterday I got in touch with Michael Haught of michaelhaught.com and asked him about the Clickbank ads on his blog, as I was very impressed by them. He replied, telling me that it’s a free tool from Clickbank.

So this morning I looked into it, and have now set it up on my blog, it took about 30 minutes to complete and I was amazed at just how simple it was to do.

This is how I done it:

I logged into my Clickbank account and clicked on the Account settings tab, from there I selected HopAd Builder (far right).

From the next window I selected Text Ads Builder and filled it in accordingly.

Once I had completed this task I copied the script into notepad and saved it in my Masterclass folder.

I then went into my WordPress admin panel and selected Appearance, then editor, (on the left), and then I selected Sidebar (sidebar.php) from the right hand side.

When the sidebar code appeared I right clicked and selected all, then copied and pasted it to a fresh notepad doc so that if I made any mistakes I could correct them by returning the code to its original settings. That is very important as the last thing you want to do is mess it all up and not have the original code to fall back on.

In the sidebar 1 text, (near the top), I found <?php include(‘adsense_sidebar.php’) ?> and highlighted it. I then replaced it by pasting in the HopAd code, and clicked the Update file button at the bottom.

I then went to my blog to check my work and noticed that I only had 3 rows of adverts and that they were encroaching to sidebar 2. So not to be put off I returned to my wordpress admin panel and changed some of the HopAd code.

Height was set at 250 so I changed it to 730

Width was set at 250 so I changed it to 160

Rows were set at 3 so I changed it to 15

After each change I clicked the Update file button, returned to my blog and refreshed the page.

When I was happy with the look I decided to write a post about it, I can feel a song coming on……ha ha.

I hope that you find this post helpful, please feel free to leave your comments.

Until next time,
Barry Wells
