Are You An Avid eBook Reader?
Hi, thanks for visiting my blog:
It’s Friday afternoon and here in the UK its our May Day Bank Holiday weekend, giving us an extra day off on Monday. Some people will be visiting family or friends, some going away for the weekend, some will put their feet up and relax, and some will be working as normal.
This is the age of information and with that comes information overload. Most of us have suffered it at one point or another and today I want to give you a simple tip to help overcome the dreaded info’ overload.
Do you know that over 90% of eBooks aren’t completely read and if they aren’t read how can the information within them be applied? I’ve done it myself, you start to read the latest Hot product and something distracts you and takes your attention away from your reading. You forget the eBook and deal with whatever situation took you away from it and by the time you come back to your computer there’s something more urgent to do. You close the eBook with the best intentions of reading it tomorrow…..
…..tomorrow comes and there’s something else that takes your attention and, before you know it, you’ve forgotten about the eBook that you’re reading. A week goes by, then a month and the eBook is forgotten, although some of the info may have got through and rattles around your head, leading to info’ overload. Why? Because you, (we, me) haven’t read and absorbed the complete information from the eBook. You get a little piece of info from this eBook and some from that eBook and suddenly your thoughts are all over the place and you can’t decide which way to go.
That’s info overload!
So what is my tip for dealing with this?
It’s quite simple really: Grab yourself some slide binders, a pen and a highlighter pen. Print out the eBook and turn it into a book so that you can take it with you, away from the computer.
Go and relax somewhere and read through the eBook, use the highlighter pen to highlight the steps you need to carry out, while making notes on the opposite page. When you get to an area of the eBook that you don’t quite grasp, go back a couple of pages and re-read it. If you still don’t grasp it put the book down and think about it for a little while, even over night if needed. Read a chapter at a time, let the info’ sink in and move on to the next chapter.
We have all got eBooks on our hard drives that we have been meaning to read for some time, why not print one out today and take it with you this weekend. Make it your mission to read the eBook, absorbing the info, making notes throughout and highlight the steps you need to take.
When you get to the end of the eBook put it down and think of what you’ve just read. The next day read it again and add to your notes as required. By the time you’ve read through it a second time, making notes, you would have turned the eBook into an instruction manual and will have absorbed the content. Making it easier for you to apply the information when you get back to your computer, working from your manual.
Give it a try this weekend and come back next week to let me know how you got on.
Above all else…. Have a fantastic weekend!!
Until next time, take care

Good Day Barry,
As an avid reader I understand that most books are not read and the few that are, seldom provide any value.
What your are encouraging folks to do is admirable and simple. If people would simply take the time to focus, their investment would pay dividends in new wisdom and capability.
Thank you for your willingness to assist so many visitors to your blog. It’s loaded with great information and a wonderful resource to people wanting to earn an income online.
Have a grand day, mister.

Hi Barry
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Thanks also for the compliment.
You know Barry, i sometimes wonder just how much money is sat on peoples hard drives, with products bought and never read. Like you say my friend, if people just focus on their investment it will pay off.
Thanks again for stopping by Barry, i’m off over to your blog now.
Regards, Barry
Hi Barry,
You’re absolutely correct…we constantly let distractions get in the way of our productivity. You have to develop a certain mindset, in order to succeed.
Once you have that mindset, it takes focus to single out the task at hand. In working on that task, make sure the job is done, before moving on to the next.
This greatly eliminates the chance of info overload.
Keep up the great work Barry!
Best regards,
George Nieves

Hi George
Its good to see you back my friend. You’re absolutely right in what you say, one step at a time and move on when you have completed each step.
With the key being Focused. Reading eBooks in the way that i have described will help you focus on the subject and steps to take, making it easier for you to complete the task/challenge.
Take care George,

Hi Barry,
I have the problem of info overload and most of the information is really good stuff! Just NOT what I need right now!
I have printed out Operation ebook from Paula Brett since I am writing my first ebook but I never thought to write notes and highlight.
That would make it like a very cool guide with her ideas and mine too!
Cool.
DUH! So simple and will probably get me out of this overload state!!
Off to read my book! Thanks for this great idea!=)

Hi Lisa
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Its often the simple ideas that help the most. I now read the majority of my ebooks in this way and it does help, especially with the step by step guides.
Best of luck with creating your first eBook, you made the right choice with Operation eBook.
Speak soon Lisa, best of luck to you.
Regards, Barry
Hi Barry,
You make a great point in this post, i felt my eBook was too long, and that people would put ti down after a while reading it, but i guess it always a good learning curve on improving the way you create your products on the next run?
Hope you are well Barry….Ed.

Hi Ed
Thanks for stopping by. I don’t think an eBook can be to long my friend. As long as it supplies ALL of the information to carry out ALL of the task its the right length. The problem is the people reading the eBooks have so many other things to try and fit into their lives that they often leave the eBooks unread and move on.
I have one eBook that i resell that is over 500 pages long and i often wonder if it ever gets read to the end.
Take care Ed, regards to Doris

Hi Barry,
The best thing I ever did for my business was purchase an ebook reader. I can literally load hundreds of ebooks onto it and read them just like reading any book.
Now my wife and I can sit down and just read together, except that I’m reading about how to improve my business while she’s reading her fiction.
Its surprising how short most ebooks are anyway, many can be read in about 20 minutes if we actually take the time to read them.

Hi Robert
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
eBook readers are excellent as they allow you to take ALL of your eBooks with you and read them as you go. All you need to do is make a point of reading them and then ACT upon the info within. As you point out many can be read in a very short time.
Thanks again Robert,

Hi Barry, You’ve got the right cure for overload and for ebooks rusting away on hard drives. Joining giveaway events has brought me to search out all the good stuff on my computer and to not only read it but to put the best free stuff into squeeze and download pages for my new subscribers. An ebook is only “crummy” if it never gets read or distributed.
I’ve got to go and buy some new ink cartridges now.;-)

Hi Steve
Its good to see you back my friend. I hope that you’re well.
I haven’t looked into the give away events as yet but thanks for adding the tip, i’ll add it to my list of things to do.
Sorry about the ink Steve, but it’ll be worth it, I promise.
Regards, Barry
I am the worst at this. I must have 100 ebooks on my pc and start reading them but rarely finish. Most of the time I just skim through them and then forget all about them. Even if I do read them, I rarely put the plans into Action. This post was dead on. I bet many people are just like this.

Hi Mike
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
I know exactly where you’re coming from Mike. Print one out and use a highlighter like i said, you’ll see the difference in your understanding and action planning. I find it so much better reading them this way, as long as they’re not to long that is.
Best of luck to you Mike,
Regards, Barry
That is some inspirational stuff. Never knew that opinions could be this varied. Thanks for all the enthusiasm to offer such helpful information here. And let me know how you can do it well? I want to share with anybody on how to earn million money online easily.
Twitter: barry_wells
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I don’t really follow your meaning on ‘let me know how you can do it well?’ If you could expand on it slightly I’ll do all i can to answer your question.
We would all like to earn a million online, however there’s no easy way. You need to put in the work and build your business. If you’re struggling to find your direction, then find a mentor.
The only Mentor I recommend is John Thornhill.
Best of luck, Barry
Hi Barry,
I found your post from a forum link and it’s interesting to see others are still interested in e-books. I personally think e-books can be invaluable if the information contained in the e-book resolves a problem or answers a question that could have literally taken someone days or weeks to figure out for themselves.
I’m all for the resurrection of the information product on eBay ONLY if the information is not copied from others or sold as useless information.
I wrote a post about it on my blog here..

PS – you will probably be seeing more of me here Barry since your info looks great and it would be great to hear a reply to hear what you think about my post also ;o)

Hi John
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
I agree with you about the value of some eBooks, and feel that people are sometimes put off of eBooks by the old out dated ones that are still being offered on eBay. There are lots of valuable eBooks around that do help people overcome obsticles and solve problems. It’s a shame that many people tar them all with the same brush. The thing is if people buy an eBook to help them solve a problem and follow the instructions through only to find the information is out of date the chances are they never buy another one, as they have wasted money and time.
I would also like the resurrection of the automated eBook sales on eBay but while these old ones are still doing the rounds i can’t see it happening, which is a shame but rules are rules and it does help keep the rubbish out (slightly).
I think people will remain interested in eBooks for years to come. With the amount of portable devices that people can read their eBooks from, i feel that they have yet to reach their peak.
I have been over and read your blog post John, and i have to say that you’re bang on my friend. I would also advice people to write their own eBooks on their specialist niche.
Thanks again for your comment John, speak soon, Barry

Hi Barry,
Well, I was pretty much nodding my head all the way through your article there. Oh yes, got the ebook, will finish that one tomorrow, will read that one again….. At the end of the day, I’ve probably got duplicate infomation due to not reading and absorbing the information properly.
Great idea though, to print them out and get away from computer and distraction.
Cheers Barry

Hi Julie, I’m glad that you could relate to the post. We all get distracted at times and with the best intentions of getting back to our reading we do forget.
I’ve been printing eBooks out for some time now and often turn them into my very own manual when they tend to get a little complicated. They’re so much easier to follow that way.
Another tip: is to print them out and create a manual then when you’re ready to follow it through open the eBook on your PC and work through your manual and the eBook together. You’ll get the best results this way
Catch up very soon Julie
