Ending 2011 With A Smile and The Sunshine Award

Hello and thanks for stopping by
I hope that you all had a great Christmas and made the most of the holiday season to catch up with loved ones and share the celebrations with them all.
I had a fantastic Christmas with my wife and children and then Boxing day I had my mum and two of my brothers around for a good ol’ feed and some festive fun. Which I thought topped off my year nicely, but how wrong was I….
In my last post I detailed how this year has been my best year since coming online and all that I had won and achieved this year. Now it’s all well and good me saying about my progress but when other bloggers mention it the feeling is simply fantastic.
Could this year end any better?
I didn’t think it could but am so very pleased to tell you that it has ended on the highest point I could imagine.
I have been awarded the Sunshine Award not once but twice this week and that is the best feeling I have had online…. ever! It really is an honour when other bloggers give you such an award as it drives home just how far I have come, not only in my eyes but in the eyes of other successful bloggers.
So what is the Sunshine Award all about?
There is no prize or trophy attached to the award, it is more about recognising bloggers whose positivity and creativity have inspired others in the blogging community. To be awarded the Sunshine Award from established bloggers that we aspire to really is an honour and to be awarded it twice is more than I could ever of dreamt of.
I have to thank Adrienne Smith and Jeffrey Morgan for awarding me the Sunshine Award. As I have said it really is an honour and to come from such established, successful bloggers as Adrienne and Jeffrey really does mean so much to me, thank you both so very much
The 3 Rules of the Award
There are 3 rules to the award which are:
1: To thank the person(s) that gave the award.
2: To Answer 10 questions.
3: Pass the award on to 10 deserving bloggers.
I have already thanked both Adrienne and Jeffrey for the award, but thanks again. It really does mean a lot to me, thank you
The 10 questions are:
- Favourite colour – Blue, well I am a boy
- Favourite animal – Dog, sadly my dog had to be put down but after 14 years with him at my side how could I choose another animal.
- Favourite number – 7, while other kids were learning their 5 times table I learnt my 7 times table for some strange reason and 7 has been my favourite since.
- Favourite drink – Tea, very strong, white without sugar.
- Facebook or Twitter – Twitter, it’s where I have met some fantastic friends and Twitter is my number one traffic source.
- My passion – Helping others on my blogging journey.
- Giving or receiving gifts – Giving without a doubt, but I still like receiving
- Favourite day – Sunday, I show love and appreciation to my family every day but Sundays are set aside just for them.
- Favourite flower – Roses, being an Englishmen would you expect anything else?
- Favourite food – Chinese, loads of different dishes shared out between everyone at the table.
10 Deserving Bloggers To Pass The Award To
I could probably list 20 bloggers with ease but have to keep it to 10. So in order to do this I have chosen people that helped me on my journey this year, assisted me over hurdles and commented on my posts on a regular basis. Please don’t be offended if you’re not mentioned, all of my readers are valued but I have to keep it to just 10 people.
Adrienne Smith: It may seem strange that Adrienne awarded me the Sunshine award and I’m awarding it back to her but Adrienne is my number one blogger and any award without mentioning her wouldn’t be right in my eyes. Adrienne is an all round lovely Lady that helps so many people online, not just in blogging but on the Social Media Networks as well. I have recently interviewed Adrienne and will be making the interview available to everyone shortly into the new year.
Jeffrey Morgan: Again it may seem strange that I award the Sunshine Award back to Jeffrey but he has really helped me this year. He wrote 2 guest posts to help my readers back up their blogs safely using both FileZilla and our C-Panels. I recent had an issue with one of my regular readers comments going to the spam folder, so I asked Jeffrey how I could solve the issue. Not only did Jeffrey advise me he also worked his magic on a plugin to whitelist the person and all this during his preparation for the launch of Jeffrey-Morgan.com in just a few hours time on 01/01/12 be sure to visit his brand new blog ASAP.
Ian Ieba: I’ve got to know Ian really well this year as we have faced a few issues together and overcome them, as I detailed in my post Headaches, Heartbeats and Helpful Friends. Ian and I have become real friends and have helped each other with both online and off line issues. We connect on all the Social Media Networks as well as email and regular Skype sessions. Ian is currently putting a PLR series together on his blog and I have to say it’s the best PLR information I have seen online…. and it’s all free. Beat that you gurus
Sally Neill: I’ve been a regular visitor to Sally’s blog for some time now and through those visit I was lucky enough to win a place on her Learn With Sally coaching and as I have detailed through my posts her training has taken me to a whole new level of Internet Marketing. Prior to that training her posts, and the interaction in comments on some of my posts, have taught me plenty. Not to mention the free products she has created that help us all progress online. No blogging award would be complete without mentioning Sally.
Dawn Kay: I first met Dawn through the 100 Blog Comment Challenge and we’ve been regular visitors to each others blogs ever since. Dawn is all about helping others through her posts and has created some excellent checklists to help us all stay focused on our work. Throughout our LWS coaching Dawn has been there to help and advise on any concerns I had, as well as detailing her journey on her blog in such a way that enables others to follow her example. Dawn has also been the Queen of the shout out sharers this year and has shared my content on all the Social Media Networks.
Dee Ann Rice: Dee Ann and I connected earlier this year after she commented on one of my posts. Shortly after we connected Dee Ann accidentally deleted her whole blog and had to re-install it all from a back up, which she detailed in a post as well as in a video to help others avoid making the same mistake. I love the way Dee Ann details her journey through her blog posts and always tells people where she found the information she is using.
Randy Smith: I’ve been a regular reader and subscriber of Randy’s for a few years now and I love the way he says it as it is. He always gives an honest review of any products he looks into and has often told his readers to save their money and pointed out why. Randy’s very approachable, has time for all of his readers and offers helpful free gifts on a regular basis. Randy has a saying that we should only spend our cash on what will help us now and not on what we may use one day. Randy holds a monthly meet up in the north of England where internet marketers get together to discuss their projects and progress and kick each others butts if and when they slack off.
Mandy Allen: Mandy and I first connected through John Thornhills Masterclass, where Mandy is now a moderator and constantly helps people over whatever hurdles they’re facing. When I have needed her help she has offered it without question or concern for her own time. Mandy is the organiser behind the Journey To Success blog series that I am currently taking part in, which came about because of her desire to help as many people find success as possible. Mandy has a few projects on the go with her most recent one being Calendars For Marketers, I do know of others but they’re at the hush hush stage at the moment
Julie Dunlop: I first met Julie through Ian Ieba, after he pointed her in my direction after a video I had created. Since then Julie and I have become regular visitors to each others blogs where we comment and encourage one another. Earlier this year I held a video challenge and although Julie had never created a video before she accepted the challenge and spent a whole weekend finding her way around the software so as to create her first ever video. I recently took part in the 7 links challenge, where I nominated Julie to take the challenge, which of course she did
Terry Conti: Terry and I also first connected through John Thornhills Masterclass but we connected more on the blogging side of things where we really got to know each other. Terry was a regular visitor to this and many other blogs throughout the year but unfortunately his father recently passed so he is currently looking after his mother. While at the same time holding down a full time job in the restaurant industry, working very long unsociable hours, leaving himself very little time to get online.
“I hope your situation soon levels out for you Terry and allows you to get back online and follow your dreams mate”
To all of my readers: I wouldn’t have had half as good a year without your input so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for helping me achieve my best year online.
I appreciate and value everyone of you and wish you all a very Happy New Year. Please let me know in the comments below if there’s any way that I can help you achieve your goals in 2012.
Oh and please use the buttons below to help share the content of this post.

Ah thank you Barry for all your kind words. It’s been an honor getting to know you this year.
I’m also honored that you presented me with this award again. To know that you think so highly of me brings such a huge smile to my face. I couldn’t be happier.
I have to agree with you too. This has been my best year so far as well. I’m so glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and started implementing what I had learned through Alex Jeffrey’s course I purchased at the end of last year. Had it not been for that I’m not sure where I would be. All I know is like you, we’ve grown leaps and bounds and in some way we’ve done it together.
I so look forward to continuing our friendship well into the new year and can’t wait to see how the interview came out. I’m so honored you chose me for your free product and I do hope others will find it extremely beneficial as well.
Here is wishing you all the best and Happy New Year Barry!

Hi Adrienne, Happy New year my friend
It sure has been an honour getting to know you Adrienne, we can all learn from you just as I have been doing
Being my number one blogger it’s only right that I award you the Sunshine Award, while that may seem strange seeing as how you awarded it to me, I think it only right to be honest and award it back to you. Pass the parcel comes to mind
We both had good years last year Adrienne and I think that’s because we both stepped out of our comfort zones and challenged ourselves by doing so. I totally agree with you as well, had we not of challenged ourselves where would we be…. I dread to think of it Adrienne.
Our friendship is going to blossom even more this year Adrienne. I have the transcriptions back from Dawn Kay and am hoping to get onto the product as soon as possible. Having just started back after the holidays the first few days this week will be playing catch up with everything. Comment replies and return visits, Tweets, G+’s and Facebook, not to mention the ever growing emails.
Once I have the product in draft form Adrienne I’ll send it over for your opinion
I wish you a very Happy and Prosperous 2012.
Respect and Regards,
Barry

Congratulations, Barry! This award fits you perfectly
I am very happy to have met you and hope to be more active with my blogging in 2012. I just need someone to get on my case once in awhile to keep me inline, as I tend drift easily.
I wish you all the best in 2012!
Linda
Hi Linda, Happy New Year my friend
Thanks for the congrat’s Linda it’s very much appreciated
I am pleased to have met you as well Linda, it’s been fun getting to know you.
So you want someone to get on your case and keep you inline
Why not write an accountability post detailing what you want to achieve in the first 3-6-9 months of the year? Once it’s up we’ll all give you a nudge if we see it not happening. That may help you Linda, what do you think?
Like wise, all the best for 2012 Linda.
Take care, Barry

Enjoy the journey.

Hi Mandy, Happy New Year my friend.
Mandy you’re very well known online but not everyone knows just how much time you spend helping others. I’ve seen it time and again on forums where you’re answering peoples calls for help and getting them/us over whatever hurdles we face.
You do so much behind the scenes to continue helping others that you really do deserve the Sunshine Award and I thank you for everything you’ve done to help me
Thanks for the compliment Mandy
I wish you every success for 2012

Barry,
First off thank you for nominating me for the Sunshine Award. It is truly a very special honor to be nominated for such an award. I feel very honored that you would present this award to me.
As I read through your list of people you gave this award to, it made me think just how much of a community we really belong to and how great it is that everyone helps others out in so many ways.
All of those people have contributed to my learning and helped me out in one way or another.
I feel very blessed to be part of this community and want to thank you again for the nomination.
Have a great New Year and I will talk in 2012.

Hi Dee Ann, Happy New Year my friend.
You so deserve the Sunshine Award Dee Ann. I’ve been following your blog for some time now and love the way that you detail your journey and show people how to avoid making mistakes.
Your videos are excellent and show people the easy/correct way of doing things. Like installing from a back up…. How to add video to our blog posts… all videos to help other bloggers progress
I know exactly what you mean about the blogging community, we all try and help each other in any way we can and by doing so I think we will all get to where we want to be. It’s good that you say about learning from other bloggers but let’s not forget that you’re also helping and teaching others Dee Ann…. even sharing the information and where you found it, like with Mouh’s images
Have a fantastic 2012 Dee Ann, i wish you nothing but the best for it

It doesn’t even have to be marketing Mike: Steve Kings uses his passion for golf and has brought it online and made a huge success of it.
Randy Smith uses his experiences from his old job as a salesman and has made a huge success from it.
Use whatever you know or whatever gets you excited Mike, if I can help let me know mate

Geez Barry, I’m speechless! I mean .. OMG! I really don’t know what to say. I’m very honoured that you presented me with this award Barry, Thank You
I saw Adrienne’s award post and before actually reading it through completely, I did scroll down to check for your name expecting it to be there – and it was. (I really did). You deserve every good thing that comes your way Barry and this award fits you.
Congratulations on your successful year and may it continue on and on ….
Cheers and Thanks again Barry, you really have put the ‘Sunshine’ in my day on this dull, gray morning.
Julie
ps. have you a ‘spell check’ plugin or is it something within the firefox update. I am a terrible speller and god bless ‘spell-check’, but I have never seen it appear on comments. Anyways, it’s a US version ’cause it red marks words spelt correctly!

Julie recently posted..Where There’s an End, There’s a New Beginning
Hi Julie, Happy New Year my friend.
I felt that you deserved the award Julie because as I said in the post you have taken every challenge that I have thrown at you and spent your spare time pushing yourself through them. The video challenge for example, you kept pushing yourself until you had the hang of the software, while quite a few people tried and gave up when it didn’t go right the first time.
Thanks for the compliments
I was really pleased to find that Adrienne had awarded me the Sunshine Award and then to find that Jeffrey had also awarded it to me kind of blew me away, in a nice way
I have a confession to make Julie: My spelling is atrocious and I have to check the dictionary all the time. I write my posts in Open Office writer as it spell checks as I go and when it comes to comments and replies I sometimes copy the comment or reply into outlook and check the spelling that way.
I’m not sure if there’s a plugin that checks but will try and find out for you
All the best for 2012 Julie,
Take care, Barry

Hi Barry, I wasn’t actually meaning for you to go find a spell check plugin for me, you are such a sweetie
It was only that it’s the first time I’d seen it on comments and it was on your blog. I’ve since seen it on other blogs over the past couple of days so figure it’s maybe something with the Firefox update. Perhaps I’ll ask Ian about it, he’s always right up on the Firefox tech stuff. Not that it’s a problem, quite the opposite – It’s great. (I’ve got Oxford Dictionary bookmarked)
Cheers

Hi Julie,
I didn’t know I had any form of spell check on my comments and can’t see it there from this end.
I’ve had a quick on FireFox and did find a spell checker but it was aim for web pages. If you open a FireFox tab and go to Tools > Add Ons then enter spell checker in the search box you can read all about it
Best of luck mate, Barry

Thanks for the congrat’s Dawn, I was shocked to have received the award twice. Even my kids were patting me on the back….. and that’s saying something
Awww that’s a really nice thing to say Dawn, thanks mate. I do try to help people but to think I actually light up lives is a huge compliment, thank you
You deserve the Sunshine Award Dawn, just think about the posts you wrote last year: small lists can get results, if my kids can do it, adding audio to posts, how to transcribe audios FREE….. all of them help others and show how it’s done. You’re to be congratulated Dawn
I loved the LWS coaching and getting to know everyone better. We did share a lot of laughs Dawn and that’s going to continue throughout 2012 as well. Once i’ve sorted my catch ups out i’m heading over to the group to check out what’s been happening whilst I’ve had my break

Hi Barry,
I could flippin throttle you!!
Oh – Happy new year firstly… and a Happy Birthday too (I was told you were keeping it a secret;)- some chance)
Now back to the throttling….
I suppose I should say thank you for passing the award on… that’s gotta feel nice – And I am glad I’ve been of some help over the years.
The reason for throttling you is that I’m still just thinking of getting back to work… and now I’ll have to actually stick writing about this on my to do list!
(So you’re forcing me back to work earlier than anticipated…haha)
Seriously though – what a lovely start to the year to have yet another link back to my blog, and be nominated for the award by someone who I know works hard at helping others whilst never complaining about his own circumstances, and still manages to get so much done!!
Cheers mate … You’re a well deserved winner
(That said – I reckon you won far too much last year… so slow down and give other people a shot this year…. haha)
Later mate – enjoy your day

Hey Barry,
Congratulations on your Sunshine Award! You’re one of the most positive and helpful people that I know online, so it’s an award that was justly given!
How was your Xmas / New Year / birthday?
Like you, I was lucky enough to win a place on the Learn With Sally course, and it’s made such a difference! The amount that I’ve learned and the friendships that I’ve made have been priceless.
I’m back at work today which has given me a shot in the arm of get-me-out-of-here, so expect to see some swift progress coming from me soon – they say that you make your own reality, so mine needs a bit of an adjustment!

Happy New Year to Nikki, I hope you had a great Christmas and were able to see the new year in with a smile
Sorry about the name being to long. It’s the latest update from CommentLuv premium. It now has extra features such as the length of name allowed. I’ve been back and re-set the length allowance so hopefully it’ll not give you any more problems.
Awwww thanks for the congrat’s Nikki and your kind words, they’re very much appreciated mate
I had an excellent Christmas, spent Christmas day with my wife and children then Boxing day had 2 of my brothers over with my mum. So we had a vast improvement on last year
then I went back into hospital for a few days and got the all clear from the specialist so that was good. New year was quiet, but that’s how I like it
and my birthday was great as we had a get together with one of my brothers that shares the same birthday (4 years apart but same day) and my mum around again. How was yours?
We were both very lucky to win our places on the Learn With Sally coaching and wasn’t it great coaching. Not only the coaching, but like you say Nikki the friendships built along the way….. Priceless is about right mate
I can understand your feeling about going back to work Nikki, treat it like it’s just the bread and butter to pay your way for now…… while you get busy creating the filling of your own sandwich… errrmmmm Tuna and Mayo spilling out on each side
We have the knowledge now Nikki and the manuals should we want to go and refresh our memories. It’s in our hands now mate and with the continued support from each other we will all get there
Take care Nikki my Fabulous Fear Fighting Friend.

I’ve actually been awarded the Sunshine Award Three more times since writing the post and now have a total of 5 Sunshine Awards.
Thank you for all the compliments Ian. I like helping people that want to take action as I know how frustrating it can be when we can’t find answers to our concerns…. Well we both know that don’t we Ian!?
Yes we have become very good friends Ian and I too am very pleased by that. As for the laughs….. well let’s just say Pinky and Perky are doing the rounds but which one is which
I did aks Julie Dunlop if she was sure she had it the right way around
50th Birthday!? Now I did say we have a laugh but I think you’re pushing it now MATE!! I’m actually 21 and some months…… 324 of them to be precise
You so deserve the Sunshine Award Ian, not only for the help you’ve given me but also for the help and engagement you give your readers. I know that many people would be a lot less secure online if it wasn’t for you showing us some tricks and techniques to ensure our security….. Not to mention the PLR series that is opening everyones eyes and explaining different methods of using PLR material
We’re going to have a fantastic 2012 Ian, mark my words mate
I see you’re Pinky this week, that’s one way to keep everyone guessing
Catch you up again soon Ian.
Respect and Regards,
Barry
PS Please wish Evette a Happy New Year for me and pass on my warm regards.

Hi Barry,
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday.
Sorry late again but then better than never … so I’m told:-)
Well done mate on receiving the Sunshine Award twice… never been a more deserving person.
You are always there when we have a question or a problem to be fixed.Well I know you helped me quite a few times last year.
Mate I know you had a few challenges yourself during 2011 but that did not stop you offering your help.
Now for a confession … I have not heard of this award until today.
Just shows I am not around enough.
Have a great 2012 mate.
Talk soon.
Cheers
Bryan
Hi Bryan, Happy New Year mate
You don’t ever need to say sorry for being late my friend. I’m often late myself, more things to do than hours in the day
I was absolutely delighted by receiving the award and have since received it 3 more times since writing this post
ahhhh thanks mate, I really enjoy helping people and getting them over the hurdles I once faced.
Yes I did have a few challenges last year but by helping people it gave me something else to think about mate, which in turn helped me
Don’t worry about not hearing about the Sunshine Award before Bryan, I hadn’t heard of it either until I won it and now everyone is talking about it
All the best for the coming year, I hope its good for you.
I’ll catch you up soon Bryan,
Take care,
Barry

Hi Praveen,
Thanks for the congratulations, I was chuffed to bits receiving it and have now received it 6 times
I think it’s always nice to know a little bit about bloggers before you land there. You’ll have a great time visiting those that I have awarded the Sunshine Award to, they’re all very good at their game and will acknowledge your visit.
Hopefully building friendships along the way
Thanks for popping over Praveen
Take care,
Barry

Hey Barry,
How I love these posts. The fact that we get awarded for what we do is always such a pleasure but such posts always gives some insight into the blogger’s like and preferences.
Really, what’s up with 7?
Also, roses are kind of nice for a guy; I thought guys hate roses.
Anyways, it was lovely learning more about you! Will check out some of the bloggers

Hajra recently posted..Will they call you over for a bloggers party?
Hi Hajra,
Sorry for the late reply but I was in the process of transferring my sites to a new hosting service and didn’t want to lose anything in the process.
I agree that it really is a pleasure to receive an award for what we do. I’ve now been awarded the sunshine award 6 times, which has really thrilled me as it’s recognition of my work from other bloggers.
There’s nothing wrong with 7 Hajra, it was just a little strange for me as a kid to choose to do my 7 times table when those around me were doing their 5 or 10 times tables and 7 has stuck with me ever since
Roses are great as they come in a variety of colours and variations of the plant itself.
You’ll have great fun checking out the other bloggers, they’re all very interactive and have some great content.
Catch you up again real soon Hajra,
Take care,
Barry
