Hi Barry,
Great post, it never ceases to amaze me how some people will try to get an advantage in order to make money. They almost always come unstuck, and like the proverb says “cheats never prosper.”
Regards,
Bill
Hi Bill, thanks for leaving your comment.
I was pretty gob smacked when i heard about the strokes that some sellers pull, the more i think about it though Bill the less i’m suprised.
eBay does attract some very unsavoury people.
Catch up soon Bill,
Regards, Barry

Hey Barry,
Hope you are well, Trust me these sellers do not last long, because the key to success on eBay, is to simply get your products as visable as possible as an ‘ezact match’, the default search criteria, now they may appear a couple of times but eBay will throw upo the red flags and ban their listings and if nessacery their eBay business!
So in essense its not a good call for spammers anymore, as regards Randys new product, i`ll have to take a look at that it sounds unique and a very useful tool?
Cheers Barry take care….Ed.
Hi Ed, thanks for leaving your comment.
Thats exactly the point i was trying to get across Ed, the only way to grow a successfull business on eBay is to play by the rules. Anything but will soon become an ex business.
Catch up soon, Barry
Hi again Ed, i just tried your commentLuv link and got a 404 error message.
Thought you’d like to know sooner rather than later my friend.
Take care, Barry
Hi Barry, you must follow eBay rules if you are going to use eBay. It’s a waste of your time if you think you can bend them and cut corners. All should know you are only asking for trouble.
Your posts Barry clear up a lot of eBay policies and provide short cuts to instead of digging for information on eBay. Thanks for the time savers. Terry Conti

Hi Terry, welcome back my friend. You’d be surprised by the amount of people that are breaking the rules Terry. But like you say it’s asking for trouble and you don’t want to start any business like that.
With any business you really need to think long term and with an eBay business its exactly the same.
Thanks for the feedback on the eBay posts Terry, they seem to get less comments than other subjects so i was wondering if they’re being enjoyed.
Take care Terry, catch up soon.

Thanks for the feedback on the videos Brian. The video from Dec 2009 explains about a problem i had with the sound, and how i got changed the settings to fix it. Give it a try and if you’re still not getting any audio in your videos check out the forum: http://camstudio.org/forum/
I have just purchased CamstudioPro which is much better and just as simple to use. If you go to:

I’m glad you know so much about eBay Barry. Selling on eBay is one of my projects for this year, so your articles are really helpful. The white text people are using “Black Hat” SEO techniques which I think are a waste of time. eBay’s algorithms are so good they will get punished for it.
It seems that eBay rules are similar to Google’s SEO requirements. Basically as long as you produce a genuine listing, with the correct relevant keywords in the title, you will be OK. Google and eBay both reward QUALITY, which is great.

Hi John, thanks for leaving your comment.
I’m glad that you like the eBay related posts John, thanks for the feedback, i’ll keep them coming.
Yes eBay have some very clever tools and don’t they need them. With eBay being the largest online market place world wide they are like a magnet for chancers.
As we all know the only way for long term success is to play by the rules. Anything less and you’re simply working against yourself as eBay, and the search engines, are very wise to chancers and their ways. Like you said John, they Do Reward quality so that should be the goal we all aim for.
Thanks again John, catch up soon.

Barry,
You’ve made a great points here about how people always try to cut corner and find a loop hole in the system. I think for the long run… instead of learning the secret of how to make sell.. you should learn how to sell. Great stuff on eBay, I enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Justin, welcome to my blog and thanks for leaving your comment.
I totaly agree with you Justin, if people stopped trying to find loop holes and concentrated on building their business they would have a lot more success and that success would not only last but grow aswell.
I’m pleased that you enjoy the eBay related posts, i’ll be sharing more of them.
Catch up soon Justin, Regards, Barry

I have moved further away from Ebay and closer to Amazon as the years went by. Amazon has a higher standard of quality.
Brandon Connell recently posted..Being a blogger holds legal risks
Hi Brandon, thanks for popping over and leaving a comment.
Many people are also following your example Brandon and moving over to Amazon. eBay have themselves to blame for that with all their policy changes etc.
I haven’t yet started selling through Amazon as yet but it is on the cards.

Hi Barry,
eBay have definitely been cracking down on keyword spamming recently.
The best way to increase sales on eBay is to firstly ensure you are trying to sell a product that actually has a demand. Then get more people to watch your listings. The most watched listings appear all over the eBay site not just in the search results.
However its like the chicken and the egg scenario – sales are needed so buyers watch your listings – to increase sales
It has to be a gradual thing.
Theres my two-pence worth!

Hi John, thanks for leaving your comment on my blog. Sorry for the delay in my replying but I’ve just returned after having 3 weeks in bed recovering from an operation.
I know what you mean about trying to sell items that are actually in demand. I’m amazed that some people just keep listing regardless of the results. It only take a little time to check the success of previous listings and how successful they were.
I’ll be visiting your blog very soon John, i’ve got 3 weeks of catching up to do and you’re on my list John.

Hi Barry
I have written about Blog and email spamming but eBay spamming – totally new to me.
Unfortunately anywhere there is money involved you will find people out to buck the system
Ohe well thats life!
Pete
Hi Pete, thanks for leaving your comment.
You’re dead right Pete, where there’s money there’s people trying to scam. It’s a shame they don’t put there efforts and tallents into doing it straight. It’d give them more long term success.
I’m a few weeks behind since having my operation Pete but will be visiting your blog as soon as I’ve caught up with my work load.

Spammers already envade Ebay too? No wonder why some people are doing all of these crazy stuffs. Ebay must react on this immediately or they might lose their customers here. It wouldn’t be very pleasing to their visitors though.

Hi Colestan thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
Spammers get everywhere my friend but eBay now have some very clever software for spotting the adverts that included wrong keywords and then they remove the offending adverts. If the person continues to list them then eBay will suspend the offending account.
Thanks again for your comment,
Barry
The good thing is that ebay does their best to solve their spamming problem. That’s a warning to every ebay user who will try to play tricks on them just to increase their sales in ebay.
ColeStan recently posted..Be Thoughtful And Give Unique Personalized Wedding Gifts
Hi ColeStan,
Thanks for popping back. It kind of re-affirms the age old saying that Cheats never prosper, it’s good to see that eBay do take action against this sort of thing.
Catch up very soon my friend,
R&R Barry
You’re right, cheaters never win in all any ways they can ever think of. Some of them might end up losing what they’ve earned in the long run.
Cole Stan recently posted..Be Thoughtful And Give Unique Personalized Wedding Gifts
Hi Stan,
You’re exactly right, when eBay catch them they’ll lose their business. eBay should be seen as a long term business and applied accordingly.
Take care, Barry
