Kindle Publishing Made Easy by Val Waldeck: My review
Kindle Publishing Made Easy
By Val Waldeck: My review
Updated August 2012
I’ve decided to update this post due to the fact that since writing it Val has updated the product Three Times and has automatically given all previous customers the latest version.
With the latest version of Kindle Publishing Made Easy Val now delivers the product in PDF, Video and PowerPoint Presentation and it simply doesn’t get easier than this.
On top of that you will also receive Publish With Amazon, which is another of Val’s step by step products that will guide you through publishing your products in Print via Amazon’s CreateSpace.
There’s even more good news by way of a Special Offer but I’ll let you know about that at the bottom of the post
Onto the product review:
After reading the guest post by Fran Aslam about Mobile SEO I thought I would look into how the majority of people read their eBooks.
The Kindle eReader topped the list, which isn’t really a surprise bearing in mind Kindle have downloadable applications to suit almost every need. Whether its for your mobile device, PC or ebook reader Kindle have it covered and with the Kindle eReaders coming down in price all the time they are only going to get more popular.
Having written an eBook and listed it on ClickBank, with plans to write many more, I thought I should find out what is involved in getting myself Kindle Published so as to reach a wider audience for my products. Bearing in mind that publishing Kindle eBooks is a “set it and forget it” way of selling your products. In other words once you’ve uploaded your eBook your work for that product is complete and you can move onto the next one
I had originally used a PLR product to create my first Kindle eBook for this review but Amazon, being flooded with PLR content, decided to clamp down and remove duplicate content. Having had my product removed I decided to create a Kindle eBook from an original product of mine
Before I start my review I think it is important to point out that I did not know Val Waldeck, I had never visited her blog and to the best of my knowledge she hadn’t visited mine. We have never met through forums or had any form of communication until I purchased Kindle Publishing Made Easy.
I made the purchase via Clickbank and instantly received my download. Eager to get my teeth into it I immediately opened it up, got to the first chapter and found links to 2 pieces of software that I would need. Both were free to download and finding them so early in the eBook really gave my enthusiasm a boost and built on my excitement.
Having downloaded and installed both pieces of software I moved onto Chapter 2 where Val explains about the formatting of the ebook you’re creating, how certain characters need to be changed, what font styles to use and what their size should be. So I put Val’s eBook down and got cracking on my product mentioned above.
Once I had completed my eBook I made a copy of it, as instructed to do, and moved onto Chapter 3 where Val talks about creating an ecover or having one created for you. I already had a cover from the original product so I had that covered.
Chapter 4 had me opening one of the pieces of software that I had downloaded so as to create a folder to save my work to, along with the additional files that the software would create, which was simple to complete.
I moved onto chapter 5, where things started to get really interesting. Using the same software I imported my eBook in PDF format, although you can also import the eBook in it’s word format or even from a notepad document, and converted it to a new version compatible to the software. Again this was very simple to complete with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Chapter 6 explained how important it is to edit the HTML coding, the 2 methods we can use and a brief lesson on HTML coding. At this point Val links to a free HTML editing program for you to download and install.
Chapter 7 simply gets you to open the new version of your eBook in your web browser to see how it looks. Mine looked a little bit of a mess but the following chapters helped me sort that out.
Chapter 8 Gives you an excellent lesson in editing the HTML code with the HTML editing program that she advised we download in chapter 6. I know that some people are really unsure when it come to editing any form of code but I have to ensure you that Val really does a good job and keeps the lesson simple and to the point.
Chapter 9 is again about editing the HTML code, but this time in Notepad. With details of extra codes that you may or may not wish to use, depending on how you want the content of your Kindle eBook to be presented. I found this chapter really interesting as Val gives little tips on how to edit the ebook quickly with find and replace, which I knew already, but an additional tip which was to have the eBook open in my browser whilst making changes to it in Notepad. Then simply save the changes in Notepad and refresh the page in my browser to see how the changes look. So simple and a real time saver that I’ll use forever more.
Chapter 10 details how to build the index of your eBook, or Table Of Content as we like to call it. Using one of the programs I downloaded in Chapter 1 it took just a few clicks and the TOC was complete. Moving onto Chapter 11 I imported my ecover using the same software with 3 simple clicks it was done.
Chapter 12 and I was getting very excited as it was time to turn my creation into a Kindle eBook using the same software. Again with just a couple of clicks it was done and I now had my first ever Kindle eBook.
Chapter 13 detailed how to check the appearance of my new Kindle eBook and to be honest I wasn’t happy with the look but that was due to how I had edited it in HTML, so I went back and made the corrections I wanted to make and brought it back to this stage where I checked it again. Happy this time I moved on.
Chapter 13 Part 2 Showed me how to create a free Kindle Publishing account on Amazon and walked me through the whole process of setting up my account, uploading my very first Kindle eBook, selecting the correct options on Amazon, entering keywords in my description and basically everything you need to know including pricing and royalties.
I am now Kindle Published, check it out
Chapter 13 Part 3 shows you how to stay in touch with your Kindle eBooks, how to edit the details of it, check your sales and enter the community should you need any help or advice.
Chapter 13 Part 4 shows you how to connect your Kindle eReader to your PC.
Kindle Publishing Made Easy is fully illustrated with every instruction highlighted by a big red arrow, it just doesn’t get easier to follow than this.
I should mention that during the course of creating my Kindle eBook I knew that I would be writing this review so I thought I’d test Val and see what her customer service was like. So I sent her a few emails asking questions, the answers to which were in her eBook, and got a reply from Val very quickly on every occasion. Her replies were always polite and gave me the answers to my questions.
I was also impressed by the fact that everything you download is free of charge and that there aren’t any affiliate links within the eBook. You do not have to pay for anything other than the eBook itself, which I thought was excellent.
Val also includes a bonus eBook with this product, Publish With Amazon, which I haven’t read but I’m confident that it will be of equal quality.
Once I had completed Val’s eBook I sent her an email congratulating her on such an excellent product. I also mentioned that I would writing this review and asked if she would be able to offer my readers a discount.
I’m extremely pleased to inform you that Val agreed and has offered a massive discount of over 60% when you buy Kindle Publishing Made Easy BUT before you do that be sure to check The Special Offer I mentioned at the start of the update.
Val has just released a Warrior Special Offer for this package and while the offer lasts you can purchase it for just $5.00 via Kindle Publishing Made Easy WSO
So if you’ve ever wanted to get yourself Kindle Published then the time couldn’t be better for you
I will now create a Kindle version of every future product I create, other than those I’ll list on Clickbank.
As you know I love to receive your comments and hear your views.

Hi Barry:
Congrats for publishing on Kindle. I am happy for you. I have problems with eCovers, I can make a book cover, but I can not make it in 3D. That is the only problem I have, I know I can get it done. Do I need it in 3D for Kindle publishing?
I was following Daniel Hall, a very well known Lawyer, Marketer and a qualified Nurse. Can you believe it, his qualifications, are amazing.
He is very knowledgeable, his program is little expensive, But Now I will buy this ebook, that you got. Thanks for telling me about it.
However your post is really good and thanks for mentioning my name on your post. I appreciate all you do.
I wish you all the success in your endeavor with lot more to come.
Daniel Hall has at least 400 books on Kindle ( I don’t remember the exact number) and he is published on all other ereaders too.
Barry you not only wrote the posts on goals you are a practical example of a goal achiever.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Fran,
No the eBook covers don’t have to be 3D but I think they’re more eye catching when they are. If you have Photoshop then you just need to get some action scripts to make the covers 3D.
I got my action scripts after watching an excellent video that Sally Neill created. In the video Sally gives an excellent lesson on how to create covers, pop over Fran:
http://bit.ly/SallyCreatesCovers
Thank you for mentioning Daniel Hall, he sounds very interesting and boy oh boy does he have some qualifications, really varied so I wonder what drove him from one career path to another?
No worries on mentioning your post Fran, it’s the least I could do my friend.
Thank you for the compliments Fran, it means a lot to me.
Catch up again soon my friend,

Interesting review.
I’m looking to get a kindle. Do you know how it would compare to a iPad.
I already have an iPad.
Thanks

Hi Barry, congratulations on your Kindle success. I bought Val’s book, had severe problems with the process, sent her an email asking for help, but sadly she was not able to help. Seems there’s something strange happening with my software that prevents me from putting my name under the book title, plus I couldn’t get to grips with the html bit, made a right hash of it. But I’m sure it was me, not the process! Decided it was seriously too much work and haven’t picked it up and tried again. Glad to hear you have made it work for you.
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Mandy, I’m really sorry to hear that. I created mine in Open Office, converted it to PDF and then started the process of editing etc and didn’t have any issues.
Couldn’t you edit it in notepad and use really basic HTML, then you’d be able to enter breaks and your name.
Like I said I used OO to create PDF and when editing the code I used notepad.
If I can help in anyway Mandy, please let me know. It may just be the programs you’re using and that’s very easy to get around.
Speak soon Mandy,

Hey Barry
Congratulations on being a Kindle author – how cool is that!
I haven’t got a Kindle myself but no how popular they have become nowadays so we’d be mad not to take advantage of them.
Just out of curiosity are you going to be putting your Ease The Squeeze With Auctions on there too?
Anyway well done you on taking action and once I’m ready to be a Kindle author myself I’ll come back and buy it through your link.
Take care

Hi Dawn, thanks for the congrat’s
I’m not sure about whether to publish Ease The Squeeze With Auctions on Kindle or not as it’s on Clickbank. I think it may lead to a conflict of interests. What do you think Dawn?
You can download a kindle reader app to your PC that’ll allow you to read Kindle eBooks.
Thanks Dawn,

Hi Barry
I might be mistaken but I’m sure Randy has just added his Clickbank products on Amazon.
I can’t see why there would be a conflict of interest and if there is no rules saying you can’t….then it’s something definitely that I would do.
Isn’t it best to get your product seen in as many different places as you can?

Hi there Barry,
Excellent information, eyeopening stuff. Fran and now you are talking about this sort of stuff. I think John Thornhill is also kindle published.
I feel it’s only time till this explodes. I think it has started already. There’s a lot I don’t know about this. In fact I don’t know anything about this.
I am going to purchase this right now though your link so it will be on my computer when I’m ready to sink my teeth into this.
Thanks for pointing us to the easy go to information about this important topic. Thanks Barry, Congrats on being Kindle published.

Hi Terry, as Fran pointed out in her post, mobile searches are out numbering PC searches by 4 to 1 so we can see how popular the mobile devices have become.
Yes JT is Kindle published as is Randy Smith.
The eBook market is going to grow and grow with all the new mobile devices being so advanced and able to do as much, if not more, than our PC’s.
As product creators we need to keep up with this new trend and adapt our businesses with them in mind. As they grow we must grow with them.
Thanks for the congrat’s Terry and the best of luck on achieving this yourself. If you get stuck at all let me know and I’ll help you through it Terry.

Cool Review Barry
I have Val’s ebooks and have now got 4 of mine onto Kindle
It can’t do any harm to have products available on multiple sites
So I wouldn’t worry about the clickbank ones – chances are your affiliates may not find your titles on kindle?

Hi Randy, I knew you were Kindle published from your last blog post
Have you tried the additional bonus eBook about turning them into printed books?
You’ve got me thinking now, if I did publish Ease The Squeeze With Auctions on Kindle should I price it around the same price as it is on Clickbank?
Thanks Randy,

Hi Barry,
The self publishing with create space is on my list to do eventually…. But I’ve not had chance to look at it yet
Re pricing… I actually have mine priced cheaper as I don’t have affiliates to pay, and I was hoping to get some sales and drive traffic back to my sites by doing a good deal on the kindle products.
(Not that it’s working yet..lol)
I need to find time to promote the amazon products – yet another thing on my list…lol
One day I will catch up with all my sites…hehe
Randy
RandySmith recently posted..Weekend Catch Up And New Videos – plus Happy 4th July
Hi Randy, thanks for popping back.
That’s a good point about not having the affiliates to pay and using them more for traffic. I’ll have to pop over and have a look at your Kindle eBooks.
With regard to promoting them, I had a look at the Kindle Widget to place on my blog but it was nearly all skins (covers) rather than the eBooks. I’ll have to see if I can fine tune it in any way.
I know what you mean about the to do lists, I’m no where near your quantity but still have my hours filled, not that I’m moaning….. it’s being productive
Thanks Randy,

First of all; congratulations on your first Kindle publication – checked it out, it looks good mate.
It’s a great review Barry, really enjoyed the read and took a lot away from it. I have not really had much experience with kindle, and I certainly don’t know enough about it … yet!
As I have quite a bit of PLR material I think I will definitely look into this in the not too distant future.
Just purchased “Kindle Publishing Made Easy” via your link – thanks for that Barry.
Thanks for providing such insight into what is obviously becoming an important topic.

It’s a good job I didn’t take part in the survey Barry, I read eBooks by printing them out and reading on paper.
I have seen someone using a Kindle though and I must admit it looked good. I like the fact you can make the text bigger.
You are certainly a man of action Barry, I got exhausted just reading all the steps you took to get your eBook onto the Kindle. Good luck with this software, it seems to have all the features you need.

Hello John, good to see you again mate. I hope that you’re over your health problems now.
I’m the same as you John, I print the eBooks and turn them into manuals, with highlights for the instructions and notes on the opposite page for points of concern.
Two of my brothers use Kindle eReaders and swear by them, I’ve never used the reader but I do have the Kindle App on my PC, another free download
The product being reviewed John is an eBook, not software. Although we do download 2 pieces of software to create and read the Kindle eBooks.
Taking action is the key to success John, and I’m hoping to create lots of it
Catch up soon mate,
Take care,

I just came from John Thornhill’s blog and saw you were writing on a similar topic. I have always been curious about adding an eBook to Amazon and Kindle but thought it was going to cost a lot of money, but I guess not?
You put a PLR ebook on Kindle? I have a long PLR book that I fixed up with my own cover and bet it would sell quite well. I definitely need to check this out and will most likely give you a sale as it sounds like something I need to learn more about
Thanks for the review, they are always important when you hear about the products from others but not really what is so great about it…you did a GREAT job here, Barry
Linda
Hi Linda,
It’s free to list our Kindle products on Amazon, as they earn the money from the sales. If you price your Kindle eBooks above $2.99 then you can claim 70% Royalties of each sale.
Yes Linda, the product I used for this was a PLR product. As you’ve already got the product fixed up in your own style and a new cover there’s nothing to stop you being Kindle Published by the end of the week
Once you’re Kindle Published and see how easy it is Linda you’ll want to create more and more Kindle eBooks, I know I do
I know what you mean about others mentioning products without giving people an insight into them, but I feel the people doing this are trying to make points on other aspects of their business and just mention the tools they used to accomplish their tasks in case other want to follow suit.
I’m really pleased that you liked the review Linda,

Barry,
I bought the eBook through your link last night and downloaded all the software required and got started late this afternoon.
I have been at it ever since, well with lots of breaks of course and getting so darn frustrated…I think that once I get the hang of it, all will be ok. I thought I was all done – went through with no errors and then previewed and it looked bad – so you know where I am at right now..lol.
Since I am in the US, I think I only get 35% royalty don’t I? Or did I misunderstand that part?
Anyway – just wanted to let you know that I am on my way………I will post an update on my blog or twitter or some place for you to find it when it is done
Talk to you soon!
Linda
Hi Linda, It’s fantastic that you’ve taken action to get yourself Kindle Published and thanks for purchasing the product via my link.
It can be frustrating when we try something new, but stick with it as you’ll soon get the hang of it. Remember when making changes to have the eBook open in your browser and make the changes to the html then save and refresh the browser to preview the changes.
What I done Linda, was to edit it a paragraph at a time then save and refresh. Then if it’s not quite how you want it you can make changes before moving on. Once you get the hang of it step up to editing it a chapter at a time. I edited the HTML in notepad as I think it’s easier, but that’s my preference.
I’m listed on the US Amazon site, as the market is bigger, and I get 70% Royalties. The Royalties depend on the price you set Linda, as long as the price is above $2.99 you can select 70%.
Please let me know when you’ve finished it Linda and I’ll help get the word out on Twitter
Best of luck to you,
Respect and Regards, Barry
Hi Barry,
It’s been a while since I visited but your latest post about Kindle publishing made interesting reading as I have just bought my wife a Kindle.
I have checked out your ebook on Amazon and I am sure it will do well. I have a sneaking feeling that selling ebooks on Amazon will surpass Clickbank in time.
It all sounds very technical to me but I know you’re pretty genned up as far as that side goes and your determination always sees you through.
I look forward to your updates on your success with this side of your marketing Barry.
Bill
A-U-L, UK
Hi Bill, good to see you again mate.
I hope your wife is enjoying her new gift Bill.
Thanks for looking at my Kindle eBook, I am going to create many more as their popularity is growing in great numbers and as you know the price of the Kindle eReaders are coming down all the time.
I’m not sure that the Kindle eBooks will surpass Clickbank as Clickbank has the affiliate army in place and Kindle eBooks don’t work in that way. So product creators will still use clickbank as a first choice as they’ll have the affiliate army promoting their products for them and at a greater value.
It isn’t that technical Bill, but it does require complete focus and lots of HTML coding.
I’ll keep everyone posted on the success side of things Bill

Secondly, thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving your kind words, much appreciated.
Really enjoyed reading your review here Barry, very informative. I don’t have a Kindle nor ever used one – took me years to update my cell phone and laptop! (12 years and the old laptop still works mind – just doesn’t get internet connection)

Hi Barry
Great review and congrats on your Kindle book, which looks great.
This is not something that I had considered but actually this could be an even easier step than using Clickbank as there is no need to create ridiculously long sales copy.
Currently sorting out my direction and how to make the most of the ebooks I have already created, will have to set some outsourcers to task with this very soon

Hi Igor,
I’m glad that you liked the review and thanks for the congrat’s.
Yes the lack of having to create a sales page is an added bonus Igor. The details we need to enter on Amazon for our Kindle eBooks can normally be taken directly from the eBook itself.

Loved your review. You certainly didn’t miss a beat with it and covered it extensively…which I really appreciate!
Kindle publishing to me is a lot like what is going on with Mobile technology. Things are moving so fast it’s almost hard to keep up these days.
But, both of these things are very important to anyone who writes ebooks or markets online.

I totally agree Kathy, It is hard to keep up with the development of these new devices but that’s what we need to do if we want to continue growing our businesses. As product creators we need to cover as many markets as we can and as Kindle eBooks are growing in popularity we really need to be a part of that market as well.

I thought it was important to point out that there isn’t anything for sale from within the product, as there seem to be so many products on the market that try to sell you more from their content.
I really pleased that you have learnt so much from this Samantha, that’s fantastic feedback, thank you.

Hi Barry, hope to find yopu well, interesting post about Kindle, I tried this just before Christmas selling in the make money niche but only got a few sales. I Persuaded my girl friend to publish her stories on kindle starting in March. We have added one about every 10 days since, sales for March was 3, April 33, May 93, June 281, so far this month 115. Have just started to use some Public Domain works as a trial and have seen a few sales. I will buy the book thorough your link as I will have time in the next few weeks to have a real run at this.

I bought Val’s book a while agao but have only just glanced over it. Being in Australia I only get 35% commissions if I sell through Amazon uk or Amazon US. My brother has a US & UK account so I could probably sell through him to get the higher commissions. hehehehehe.
Definite food for thought.
And I definitely think Kindle and Ibooks will be a you snooze you loose type venture. EG if we aren’t selling on amazon or ibooks within the next 12 months the market will be flooded as people catch on to the potential of the business.
Tis replacing the ebay digital download days……..
Congratulations!! You must be proud of your achievement! I know I am!
See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta
P.S What is the plugin you use that say “Please confirm you are NOT a spammer” I am using the capthca and have now noticed some problems with it for people leaving comments and then entering the wrong captcha code. When they go back to submit a new captcha code it has wiped out the comment and they have to write the comment again.
Hope you can help!

Hi Jacinta, it’s good to see you getting about again.
Regarding the royalties Jacinta: I’m in the UK and have opened an account on Amazon.com (US) as it’s a larger market. I’m claiming 70% Royalties as I listed the eBook over $2.99 and there’s nothing to stop you doing likewise
You snooze you loose
I’ve never heard that before but what an excellent line and so very true. It certainly is replacing eBay’s digital downloads. It was said at the time that eBay imposed the rule change that they would loose loads of custom and it’s coming true Jacinta.
I am quite proud of becoming kindle published, and I’m now hungry for creating more products which will all have a Kindle version.
Of course I can help it’s what we do Jacinta
the plugin is called GASP and is available from our plugin section. Once installed go to the settings and edit the display to suit your needs.
Take good care my friend, thinking of you and your family.

Hi Val, welcome to my blog and thanks for coming over.
No worries on the review Val, the product is excellent. I like the way you get everyone to download the free software at the start as i found it built my excitement.
I know that this product is all people need to get themselves kindle Published and I found your work really easy to understand and follow.
Thank you again for offering such a large discount to my readers Val. I know that some of them have purchased your product, which isn’t surprising given the low price of it.

Hi Barry,
I came over to congratulate you on winning Sally’s coaching but really enjoyed you review of Val’s ebook.
Interesting that you can be Kindle published by just rebranding PLR.
I am in the process of developing products and will definitely be considering Kindle.
All the best Barry and congratulations on two counts.
Best wishes,
David
Hi David, welcome to my blog.
I’m really excited about winning a spot on Sally’s coaching as it’ll take me to a new level of internet marketing.
There are some people that are using PLR material and loading numerous Kindle eBooks a week. Personally I’d rather use my own original work, which I’m in the process of creating.
I’ll be making a Kindle eBook with every product I create in future David, as it’s a set it and forget it kind of market.
Thanks for the congrat’s and for taking the time to comment David. I’ll return the visit very soon
