Laziness Travels

Laziness Travels……

Before I explain the title of this post I’ll point out that this was inspired by a comment left on my blog, but more on that later…..

I am currently taking part in John Thornhill’s Internet Marketing Masterclass. This is a fantastic course that goes step by step, week by week with an absolute beginner in mind. It is well laid out with video demonstrations of EVERY step we need to take. During these videos John, and on occasion Daniel Sumner, explain everything very clearly while pointing out the importance of each and every step.

John and Daniel both operate the support desk and have set up a forum for all of us Masterclass students to get to know each other and to seek advice or assistance. If ever I have had a concern, and there’s been a few, I’ve gone to the forum, asked advice and have been assisted EVERY time, “thanks lads & ladies”.

We’re all now in the product creation stage and writing our sales pages, which is a crucial stage of the course and somewhat time consuming, however, many of us are still using the forum as and when we can.

The students are from all walks of life and from all over the world. We all have different experiences and are at different levels of internet marketing, with many having just taken the plunge. Having said that we all have a few things in common.

We are all students, regardless of our level.

We all wish to succeed in internet marketing.

We were all beginners at some point.

While I was in the forum the other day, I noticed a post by Keith Alston.

Keith’s a regular on the forum, offering advice and assistance to anyone and everyone that he can help.

He’s also set up a website dedicated to Masterclass students, and is currently putting the finishing touches to his new membership site.

Keith and I have emailed each other a few times over various things and he’s always been spot on, a really helpful fella, willing to both offer and accept advice.

Over my time visiting other blogs and on the forum I’ve noticed that there are quite a few people that are more regular than others when it comes to helping people out in one way or another, and I praise every one of you. However I won’t try and name you all for fear of missing someone out and causing offence. You know if you’re one of the regulars and if you are then I’m praising you!

Keith is one of the regulars and I noticed that, for a change, he was asking for assistance in promoting his new membership site. Keith asked all Masterclass members to post his message onto our blogs. He even prepared a swipe file (an area of text ready to copy and paste) for us, it couldn’t be easier.

I followed the link to his site and had a look for myself. After looking around I thought to myself, “No problem Keith, I’ll do that right now my friend”. So I copied his swipe file and pasted it to my blog, spaced it out a bit and added a line or two of text. That took me all of 5 minutes. I then copied the same swipe file to my (pre-existing) newsletter and sent it to all of my subscribers, old and new.  That took slightly longer, but half hour tops and both my blog and newsletter broadcast were set up.

I wasn’t the only one that posted Keith’s message on my blog, many others did as well. You see that’s one of the beauties of the Masterclass, the student’s help each other out, most of them anyway.

After posting Keith’s message on my blog I received a comment from another good fella, which led me to write this post.

Ed4Info wrote:

“I have posted this to my blog too , this is what masterclass is all about helping each other out , its a shame some aren`t even helping themselves, keep up the good work!”

I have to agree with Ed, some people on the course do appear as if they’re not helping themselves. After I received Ed’s comment it really got me thinking about some of the blogs I’ve visited over the past few months.

I’ve tried to follow the example set by Mandy Allen, who is also a Masterclass student. Mandy visits every blog of her fellow students, and leaves a comment, on a regular basis and has been doing so since the off.

When I have some spare time I try and visit as many blogs as I can and I have noticed that some of my fellow students haven’t posted to their blogs for months, some are still very basic and at the weeks 2-3-4 stage. I’ve posted comments of encouragement on loads and loads and when I’ve gone back, weeks later, some of my comments are still awaiting moderation.

Now I realise that we are all busy in our lives, and as I said before we all come from different walks of life, but we do have things in common.

We are all students, regardless of our level.

We all wish to succeed in internet marketing.

We were all beginners at some point.

The Masterclass is like a community and we’re all willing to assist fellow students, all you need to do is “go onto the forum and ask for help with whatever you’re struggling with”. I guarantee that someone will help you.

If you’re not a Masterclass student and need help from a particular person then leave a comment on their blog and ask them if they could get back to you, most will if it’s a sensible question. I’ve done this myself, many times.

If you are a struggling Masterclass student then just reach out and ask someone for help, we were all beginners at some point. You need to remember why you chose to do the course in the first place and keep that thought in the forefront of your mind. Don’t get side tracked, or try doing other things before you’re really ready to. Keep to the course work and do your best to keep up. That’s your priority, and what you have paid for.

Over on the right of this screen you’ll see a section entitled My Friends Blogs, which contains 20 links to other student’s blogs. Every time you refresh the page the links will change to another 20 blogs. All you need to do is click the links, read their posts, leave a comment and ask your question.

Please don’t just sit back and let things build up. If you can do even a little bit of work every day to advance your business in some way then you’re heading in the right direction.

I’m no guru or anywhere close to one, but if I can help YOU in any way at all, you only need to leave a comment saying so. If you would like to keep the comment private let me know and I’ll remove it from public view. Or you can go onto the forum and PM me.

This subject was raised on the forum and I read a comment in reply where someone said that they thought the “couldn’t be bothered” attitude had kicked in, or words to that effect.

If you are suffering from the “Can’t be bothered” attitude, then to that attitude I say this…..

Laziness travels so slowly……
…..that
poverty soon over takes!

Until next time, take care

  1. Fantastic post, Barry (not because of the plug either! – but thanks for that).

I have seen the benefits of following John’s advice first hand. I post comments on everyone’s blog regularly and the result of that is people visit my blog and post comments. I get at least 8 individual commetns for every post, often many more. It’s a shame some students seem to have disappeared from our radar but those of us who attend the forum and others’ blogs regularly are reaping the rewards of supporting each other. Anyone who feels they are missing out only need to ask, as you say.

Love the closing quote – your own work??

    Enjoy the journey.

    Mandy

Hi Mandy, I must admit that the closing quote isn’t my work. I heard it many years ago and it has always stuck in my head.

    Take care, Barry

  2. Nice post Barry. Something that needed to be said. I have the impression that a bunch of our fellow Masterclassers are falling away. This business requires work, lots of it and persistence, lots of that, also. Good, timely post.
    Cheers, Brian.

  3. Hi Barry,

Not a truer word spoken, i myself am behind but i am daily putting some time aside to PROGRESS if we all as you wisely stated that if we only put a minimal amount of time into our masterclass training building towards our businesses DAILY, we will all succeed!

Great post, Barry see in the land of success!

  6. Hit the nail on the head, Barry.
I completed John’s first coaching program May 2008 and I promise you that John’s methods do work but they do require hard work and persistance as Brian pointed out.
Whilst trying to balance work and family I am often guilty of forgetting about the forum so thanks for the reminder, Barry, I’m popping over there now.
    Kind regards

  7. Hi Barry
I agree with you in principle that a can’t be bothered or lazy attitude is a bad thing. This is the first course I have ever undertaken that I have really struggled with. In the past if I did not do well it was alway a matter of application and I would catch up or sort myself out, this time I don’t know, maybe it really is lack of ability. For the moment I will keep going. Good luck with your work.
    Best Wishes
    Ann

Hi Ann, that’s very honest of you. Please keep going, and try the forum for help on the areas that you’re struggling with. Someone will help you, that’s a fact. I’ll pop over to your site in a moment.

    Regards, Barry

  8. Hi Barry,

What an inspiration you are! Thank you for this post and reminder that things could always be worse.

Very impressive blog! I think this is the first time I’ve visited, but look forward to coming back more. I haven’t been able to actively participate in the class, but am able to move forward now.

    To your success!

  9. Hi Barry,
    I’m enjoying your blog.
I’m one of those who hasn’t posted to my blog in months, even though I know and understand how important it is to do so regularly.
My problem is that I’ve hit a wall of some kind and feel absolutely no creativity.
Not laziness, or “can’t be bothered”; I’m stuck.
I’m embarrassed and confused, never thought this would happen to me.
I’ve finally posted something on the forum about my feelings, wonder if it’s happened to anyone else.
Keep up your good work – I love the way you write.

    Cheers from down under
    Sue

Hi Sue, thanks for the comment. I’ll email you shortly and see what we can do to knock that wall down and clear the rubble up so that you can have a clean and clear path to walk down. I’ll be in touch later today my friend. Until then, take care, Barry
