New & Improved eBook website

In my last blog post I told you about my 1st eBook website that I bought from PlanetSMS. This automatically made me a lifetime member. As a member I’m allowed to update my website as and when they produce a new version, which they do quiet often. They always improve on the last one and have now designed them with the beginner in mind. Honestly they’re so simple to set up that a child could do it.

I was amazed with just how simple they’d made it. All I had to do was download one folder and then simply upload it to my web host. As part of the new site they included an admin control panel, where all the editing is done to personalise it to your taste and add your own details for Google adsense, PayPal, Clickbank and Aweber.

Once uploaded you simply log into your admin control panel with the username and password supplied. From there you have a list of settings that you can edit with ease.

Admin settings; where you change your username and password so that only you can access your admin area.

Personal settings; enter your name and email address for your website visitors to be able to contact you. These are not shown on the site as it cuts down the chance of spamming.

Basic settings; which allows you to add text to your Header, Sub Header and your footer, (they’re the banners at the top and bottom of each page). You can also add an affiliate ID for Audio Books. All you do is type in the details you require.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) settings; where you enter the title of your website, a description and keywords relevant to what you’re selling.

Website Themes; simply select a theme that you like from a drop down menu.

Adsense settings; enter your Google Adsense Pub code. If you’ve not got an account with Google Adsense simply apply for one as it’s free to sign up and can earn you some extra cash.

Clickbank settings; enter your Clickbank nickname. Again if you haven’t got a Clickbank account sign up for one, it’s free to sign up and can earn you some affiliate commissions.

Aweber settings; this is for your newsletter and where you start to build a list of subscribers for your email marketing. You have to subscribe to Aweber and it’s a monthly fee, but you don’t need to do that straight away as you can always come back later and add your details.

PayPal settings; here you select the buttons you wish to use on your site, either “Buy Now” or “Add to Cart”, enter the email address that you use for PayPal payments, set your prices for the eBooks on your site and your preferred currency. You also select the location of your “Thank You” page, where the customer will download their purchased products from. Don’t be alarmed as a thank you page is already in place.

All of the above are standard settings and very simple to work through to personalise your website.
On the Admin control panel you also have Advanced Settings which allow you to;
Add or remove categories
Add or remove eBook pages
Edit eBook website pages
Add or remove main pages
Edit main website pages
Check for updates

It really is easy to set up and on every section there is a help button, so if you needed an explanation of the task you’d just click the button and an explanation will appear.

On the new version of website there’s no need to purchase My DD, like I did for my 1st eBook website, as this website automatically takes the customer to the “Thank you” page where they download their purchased items as soon as they’ve made their payment.

All you need in addition to the website package from PlanetSMS is a domain name and a web hosting service. Well guess what…..If you go to d9 hosting and purchase 12 months or more they’ll supply you with a domain name (of your choice) free of charge.

This really is the cheapest and easiest way of starting your own eBook website.
