The Video Blog Challenge Summary and The Prize Winner Announcement
The Video Blog Challenge Summary
If you’ve visited my blog any time since February 16th you’ll know that I’ve been holding a Video Blog Challenge since February 29th until March 29th and that I’ve been holding a traffic competition for the same period.
Today’s the day that I announce the winner of the competition and send the prizes to that lucky person…… but before I do that, here’s a little summary.
We had 29 participants and created over 90 videos between us, giving us all free tutorials on a number of subjects:
List Building
WordPress
PhotoShop
YouTube
Amazon Selling
Amazon S3 Storage
Google Plus
Facebook Fan Pages
Affiliate Marketing
PowerPoint Presentations
Aweber
Memberships Sites
Give Away Events
Keyword Research
The list goes on and on….
There really are some fantastic videos with everyone sharing their knowledge and helping us all progress online.
As it is a leap year my aim was to encourage people that had never created videos before to start doing so and make this leap year somewhat special. Kind of like a leap of faith or to leap on the fear of creating videos and kick it into touch (if that was the case).
Well I’m extremely pleased to announce that we were able to encourage 7 people to start making videos for the first time and I hope that they continue to do so.
In the video below I name those 7 people as well as The Top Ten Traffic Sources for the period of the challenge and the Winner of the Camtasia and Snagit Licences.
Please watch the video below and all will be revealed
Note: All of my videos are shot in wide-screen HD so just hit the button at the bottom right corner
The Top Ten Traffic Sources For The Video Blog Challenge
To qualify for the Traffic Competition the participants had to submit at least 4 videos during the challenge period, however some couldn’t do so due to off line commitments and poor health. I know as well as anyone that life gets in the way sometimes and as hard as we try it’s just impossible to get things done online during those times.
Therefore if any of the participants that couldn’t complete the 4 videos during the challenge period would like to add to them at a later date please feel free to do so. Simply let me have the URL to your posts and I will add it to The Video Blog Challenge page.
If you didn’t enter the challenge but would like to tell us about your videos visit the Facebook Fan Page and leave the details of your video there.
I’m Here To Help
If you would like to start creating videos but didn’t want the pressure of the challenge then please feel free to visit the Facebook Fan Page for tips, tricks, advice or any form of help you need.
People Mentioned In The Video
I’m not going to tell you who won the Traffic Competition here, you’ll have to watch the video for that
but I will list those mentioned in the video for ease of getting to their blogs. To view the full list of participants please visit the Video Blog Challenge Page.
In no particular order
Nigel Yip
Barry Ranns
Tony Taron
Jeremy Ruggles
Jeevan Jacob John

I loved the challenge, I enjoyed watching so many videos and like you, learning so much and I enjoyed meeting some newbie video marketers. They will be up and coming stars I have no doubt.
I love your video introduction Barry, you are becoming quite the pro.
Thank you so much for putting this together and encouraging everyone to participate. I’m so happy that I was able to send a good bit of traffic your way. That is music to my ears my friend.
I appreciate you Barry and thanks again for everything. (I’m downsizing my excitement can’t you tell?) Don’t want to give it away… Yet!!

Hi Adrienne,
Congratulations on winning the Traffic Competition
I’ve just emailed you with the Licences, could you confirm that you’ve received them please Adrienne?
Your comment really baffled me when i first read it, it wasn’t until I saw your reply on your blog that it fell into place
I’m really pleased that enjoyed the challenge
It was great meeting new people and encouraging them to take part. I agree that there are some stars of the future there, I’m really excited for them.
Arrrr the intro: I bought it from Fiverr Adrienne along with the exit, which caused me some headaches as I had to render the video 5 times before it included the images….. That’ll teach me to try and shorten them ha ha
I was amazed at the amount of traffic you sent my way, as I said in the video Adrienne, you were just behind Twitter and Facebook…. But well in front of YT, LinkedIn and G+
I appreciate you too Adrienne, thanks very much for saying that
Have a fantastic Easter and I’ll catch you up again very soon
Respect and Regards,

Hey Barry,
I did receive the licenses so thank you so much. Now I get to have fun with them both.
Imagine that, coming to comment and not seeing any so I thought I was the first. Once I hit reply imagine my surprise. Huh! How did that happen. Oh well…
Good old Fiverr… Ya got to love them. I’ve had some excellent work done there too but sorry you had so much trouble with this one. It came out great Barry.
Thanks so much Barry and I’m just thrilled beyond words. Definitely made my month.
Happy Easter to you as well and keep up the excellent work here Barry.

Thanks for confirming that Adrienne, you’ll love Snagit. It made making this video really enjoyable as I could grab the images I needed and change them about with such ease. The more you play with it the better it gets
Camtasia is such a great piece of software it makes it so much easier to edit our videos. I sit back and smile now
The trouble I had with the exit was that it was 30 seconds long but only needed to be 25 so I tried reducing it by 5 seconds only to find the images stripped away
Lesson learnt…. when I buy them in future ask they reduce the lengths for me ha ha
It’s a 4 day weekend here in the UK so I’ll have 2 off and spend 2 days catching up with commenting on other blogs as it’s been hard keeping up during the challenge
Thanks Adrienne, have a good one and try not to eat to much chocolate
Hi Barry, with your permission, I want to Congratulate Adrienne.

Hi Jeremy,
Glad you liked the video
The intro and exit I bought from Fiverr. No worries on the mention Jeremy, you deserved it mate.
To qualify for the top ten traffic sources people had to have submitted 4 videos and only 14 people done that. The fact that you created 6 videos and linked to the challenge in every post had a large part to play in your result mate
Your blog may be new Jeremy but you’re blogging skills are very good and the fact that you’re visiting and commenting on other blogs will bring traffic your way. You also reply to every comment your receive, which goes down very well with your commenters and will keep them coming back. As well as showing new visitors that you value your readers, which in turn encourages them to leave comments and get in the mix.
I’m really pleased that you took the challenge and I think everyone will agree with me when I say that you’re the star of the show. Having never created a video before you created 6 for the challenge, more than anyone else
If you have PowerPoint 2010 then simply follow my series of videos and you’ll be up and running in no time Jeremy. If you have any issues or concerns you know where I am and I’m always willing to help people that’re trying to help themselves: As you are
Have a great Easter Jeremy and no nicking the kids eggs when they’re not looking

Barry,
First just wanted to say Congratulations to Adrienne for winning the challenge.
Barry, it was a great challenge and one that I really enjoyed. I learned so much from making my videos. The fact that I did one a week for 4 weeks really helped. I was able to improve on the last video because I made them close enough together that I remembered what I did wrong on the last one.
In the past there was so much time in between the videos I had forgotten what I did wrong in the last video and made the same mistake in the next on.
I really want to continue to make videos so I can continue to improve.
Thank you so much for hosting the challenge and thanks for shouting out my blog in your post.

You make a very good point about improving our videos by creating them on a regular basis and realising the mistakes we made in the previous ones.
Another little tips is to watch the last video you made before creating the new one so you can refresh on what was good (or bad) about it.
I’m pleased to hear that you want to create more videos. They don’t all have to go onto your blog Dee Ann, you can make some just to feed your YouTube subscribers
No worries on the shout out Dee Ann, you deserved it with all the links you placed throughout your posts during the challenge.
