The Video Blog Challenge

Welcome To The Leap Year Video Blog Challenge
The recent Video Blog Challenge ran from February 29th until March 29th 2012. As it’s a leap year the aim was to encourage people to leap on their fears and start creating videos to add to their bogs and products.
As well as encouraging people to start creating videos it was also an opportunity for experienced video creators to share their skills, tips and techniques in any aspect of Internet Marketing or the tools they use to help them.
Listed below you will find all of the people that took part, with links to the videos they created for the challenge. Some of the videos are not Internet Marketing related, however I’ve allowed them to be listed here so as to assist them in their New Blog Launches.
Please visit blog posts listed below and if you enjoy the videos please consider leaving comments and sharing the posts with your Social Media Friends and Followers.
As there are so many videos to watch I recommend that you bookmark this page so you can return with ease

Hi Ian,
Glad you like the new flares mate. I found out after producing one video that they need trimming up a bit (or adding to) so One video is a bit hit and miss in places but as I done the video twice already….it’ll do
Now that I have the page created I’ll be blog hopping like crazy to get the word out to everyone.
Thanks for all the help getting the word out Ian, it’s really appreciated mate.
Catch you up soon Ian,

Barry,
Great videos! I like your bookends you put on your video. I was going to do that also on mine.
Great video of you on camera. You are getting to be a natural at this.
Looking forward to doing my videos.

Hi Dee Ann,
I’m glad you like the videos. Yes the bookends are pretty cool aren’t they, I’ll be getting more of those when I can
Once you have faced the camera they get easier Dee Ann, my only problem is poor lighting which makes the whole process twice as long as I have produce the videos twice. Once to brighten the video the other to add my captions, bookends etc and then produce in a different format.
I need a bank of spot lights i think
It’s good to have you on board Dee Ann, I look forward to your creations.
Thanks Dee Ann,
Take care, Barry

Hi Barry,
Great idea mate …. looks like you have embraced video and why not you go good work…. Unfortunatly I have trouble just watching video as my wireless broadband is so unreliable … have trouble watching your videos here just wont download keeps buffering.
Will have to watch on the side lines for the moment.
Talk soon.
Cheers
Bryan
Hi Bryan,
I love creating videos as i think it’s so easy to explain and show people certain aspects online.
I understand what you mean about videos continually buffering mate. Have you tried different browsers? I used to have the same issues myself when I used Internet Explorer so I switched to Firefox. I now have Chrome installed as well and when one browser is slow I simply copy the URL and try it in a different browser.
Have you tried going wired Bryan? Even if you just plug it in for your video sessions mate, it may help.
I see that you have liked the Facebook Fan page for the challenge so be sure to mention it in there mate and someone may have a solution to offer you. It’s worth a try Bryan
Thanks Bryan,
Take care mate,
Barry

Hi Barry,
Before we moved to our current home we had cable but the area we moved into is still too new to have anything but wireless… can’t even get adsl.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Bryan
Hi Bryan,
Sorry to hear that mate. Maybe get your neighbours together and request cable being laid again?
It’s so expensive though isn’t it? and that’s if they’ll do it.
Take care mate,
Barry
Great video Barry I hope it inspires people to have a go at the challenge and the way you presented the piece was excellent well done
Ron
Thanks Rob,
I thought I’d give people a look on the inside of the prizes being offered in the hope that more will want to it and start creating videos for challenge

Let the challenge begin my friend. I’m excited about who will be participating so far and hope we’ll have plenty more join as the time goes on.
Super prizes you’re giving away Barry. I’ve never seen SnagIt in action so thanks for showing that one. Cool little program. I guess I’m just use to using other graphics programs for all of this.
Looking forward to seeing all the videos so best of luck to everyone.

I think it’ll pick up momentum as I start adding peoples videos to the list.
They are fantastic prizes Adrienne, only this morning I was creating images in Snagit for my latest post. It’s so easy to get to grips with as well.
I’ll have the list up in about 30 minutes Adrienne so please pop back as I know there are some really good ones to watch
Thanks Adrienne,

Hi Barry
Some good entries so far, probably a lot more technically than mine, but here’s part 1.
I did manage to put in a title page with my outdated camtasia 5 that was very expensive quite a few years back, but it seems to do the trick.
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Yes there are some good entries so far and I’m expecting some more to be added very soon.
Thanks for letting me have the link to your video. I’ll head over and have a watch.
Fair play to you for adding a title page. I know some do it in Movie Maker, if that’s any help?
I’ll add your details to the page Andrew, thanks mate.
R&R, Barry
Hi Barry
There was me thinking I was quite good now I can make Youtube videos with Live Movie Maker!
That Camtasia looks a brilliant piece of kit and you have certainly mastered it Barry. I use Ashampoo for screengrabbing but Snagit seems the better option.
Bill
Hi Bill,
I’ve never tried Live Movie Maker so can’t comment on that mate, but whatever works…. It’s the result that counts mate, not how you got there
Camtasia sure is a great piece of kit. I used to use CamStudio, which was ok but when the website I was detailing took an age to turn/load I would get uptight as I couldn’t edit and cut it out. Then along came Camtasia and now I just smile and think “that’s ok, you take your time… I’ll just cut you out”
You know me and screen capture mate, it was an age before I knew about the Print Screen button on the keyboard.
I wouldn’t be without either Camtasia or Snagit now Bill.
Heading you way shortly mate

Barry,
I see you got my link. I wasn’t sure about the self promoting on the Video Challenge FB site but then again it is only the people in the challenge there, right? That is what they signed up for.
I could have emailed it to you. ???
I am off to watch the other videos. I’m sure I will learn a lot!
BTW, where did you grab my real name? LinkedIn? It is just weird to see it used. Most people just call me Allie or AllieRambles. LOL. It all good.

No problem adding the link to the Facebook page, in fact it’s quite a good idea as it may give some a little nudge to get their videos done
It really doesn’t matter how the links are sent, email or FB are both ok
I got your surname from your about me page on your blog, cute photo by the way
I hope you’re enjoying the videos and the challenge itself, it’s started to grow
Speak soon Allie,
Thanks mate, have a great weekend.
Barry
Good video Barry, I agree with your points when you said don’t worry about what you sound like or how you feel about video, just do it. I have avoided video because I’m shy at times, but ONLY on camera LOL..Otherwise I’m pretty outspoken, he he. Good info here…I came over from Dawn Kay’s blog. The links above are great too….Always love having a plethora of resources and info. Have a good one! Craig Wilson
Hi Craig, Welcome to my blog.
Glad you liked the video
It is a case of just doing it Craig, don’t let anything hold you back. The way to overcome your shyness on camera is to talk to the camera before recording. Run through what you want to say a couple of times before turning the camera on. If that doesn’t work put a photo of your wife, girlfriend or mother behind the camera and pretend you’re talking to them
Thanks for coming over from Dawn’s blog, I’m glad you liked what you found here. The videos being submitted are an excellent resource aren’t they…. Be sure to come back and watch them all as I’m adding more shortly
Thanks Craig, have a great week mate.

That’s something we all have to get used to Donald, remember when we first heard our voices on the old tape recorders? It’s much the same as that mate, don’t worry about it just crack a few test videos out and try to edit them. Nobody has to see them until you’re ready so play with them Donald.
