What Would You Like To Achieve This Year?

I wish you all a Happy Prosperous New Year and hope that you can make this year your best year online, and I hope to help you achieve that.
I should have written this post last week but I had my head down finishing a project that I’ve been working on for some time, it’s nearly ready for launching but more on that at a later date
Ok, onto the post:
What would you like to achieve this year?
The majority of my readers are already blogging, but are you achieving the success you desire and deserve?
It does take time to find success online but you can fast track that, in just 12 weeks, if you want to take action and get yourself a mentor. The only recommendation I make is Sally Neill’s Learn With Sally The Replays. Regular readers will know that I have taken the course and am now seeing success from doing so.
The course doesn’t only cover blogging it also covers traffic foundations, Social Media success, 3 types of video creation, email marketing, easy product creation and a whole lot more.
You only have to look around my blog and you’ll see the evidence of what I have learnt from Sally. Check out my videos and see how they’ve improved since taking the course, I still have to pinch myself sometimes
I can’t sing Sally’s praises loud enough, she really is a great mentor that cares about her students and wants us all to succeed. Our success is Sally’s success and that is what she strives for: Our success!!
2011 was my best year online and I have Sally Neill to thank for that.
Maybe you’re on a tight budget and want to try and create something yourself. Which is fine as long as you know what you’re doing and everything that needs doing to complete your projects.
So many of us start something and never quite finish it, which is why I recommend getting yourself a mentor. We can do it as long as we put our minds to it and constantly take action to achieve our goals.
Many of us doubt ourselves when it comes to creating something. The first ebook I wrote took me over 12 months to finish simply because I doubted myself and you know what….. by the time I had finished it eBay changed their rules and my eBook was dead in the water.
Arrggg self doubt, what a dream killer it can be.
We sit at our desks with no one to answer to and skip through what we’re doing without ever really getting anywhere because of a lack of direction and/or self doubt. I did it for years myself and now view those years as a total waste of time. I was playing at being an internet marketer and not working towards being one and that is so silly.
As I said, last year was my best year since coming online and I want this year to be even better. Not only for myself but for my readers as well.
So I ask you again: What would you like to achieve this year?
Would you like to create your own product or products?
Would you like to start creating videos?
Maybe you’re already doing something and want to improve on it…
If you haven’t created a plan for the year and are still unsure of what you’d like to achieve please let me know in the comments below and let’s see what we can do about it.

Experienced Bloggers: Did you ever suffer from self doubt and find yourself held back by it? If so please let us know how you got over it in the comments below.
Please share this post with your friends and followers by using the buttons to the side and lets help as many people as possible achieve their dreams this year.

I’ve missed you Barry… I know you’ve been busy but so glad your project is almost complete. I’m sure it will be great.
Have I ever had self doubt? I just shot a video baring my soul with my readers so I guess that would be a definite yes…
What do I want to achieve this year? I’m headed toward success baby. I can taste it and it sure does taste good. I’ve broken through those barriers and it’s full steam ahead now. My business is exploding as we speak. Full steam ahead is where I’m headed.
I’m really looking forward to what you’ll have in store for us too Barry.
Keep up the excellent work and have a fabulous evening.

Hi Adrienne,
I’ve missed being about as well, there’s so much catching up to do when we take time out and now my hand is throbbing as well….. It never rains…. mind you I have managed to straighten it today
I’ve nearly finished the product now, just waiting for a help desk to get back to me and then write a short instruction guide for the affiliates and it’s then a case of testing everything
I’ll head over shortly and watch your video Adrienne. To hear that you also suffered from self doubt is a good thing for future readers to know. We all have the highest respect for you and by others seeing that they’re not the only one to suffer from it should give them a boost, we hope
I can feel the positivity in your comment Adrienne and it’s always nice to hear that a friend’s business is exploding (with success). Fantastic news, I’m really pleased for you
I do have a few things in store for this year but want to tie them in together and I’m still working on that aspect
Talking of which, I’ll be holding another video challenge soon but will be giving everyone a months notice and spreading the challenge over a month as well. That way I hope more people can take part and show off their skills as well as generating ideas for others to follow.
I’ll catch you up real soon Adrienne, take care

Barry,
You post some good, thoughtful questions! Whatever I do accomplish this year, I want to feel good about, and what I don’t…well, there’s always next year. Or it wasn’t meant to be.
The idea of doing videos is intriguing but scary to me. I’m not big on speaking – I’ve always loved to write.
I’m always looking to improve my design and development skills (and to use them, too – I should be taking care of my clients now instead of blog hopping, but I get the urge to be social).
Take care,
Leora

Hi Leora,
We should always feel good about what we accomplish and you have the right idea about what we don’t. I sometimes start to beat myself up for not accomplishing things and have to remind myself of what I did get finished.
I was a little scared of creating videos at first but once I had created a couple and got good feedback it spurred me on to creating more. You don’t have to speak in them Leora you can make slide shows with music in the background.
I’ve never been big on writing myself but once I started working online I realised that I had better get used to it if I wanted to stay around
I saw the design you created for Dr Ed’s header and thought it was really good. I also liked the fact that you explained how it was created and with what tools, full credit to you.
Your clients loss is my gain and I’m thankfull that you felt like getting social over here, thanks Leora
Take care my friend,
catch up soon,
Barry

Hi Barry
Congratulations on a successful year, you deserve it mate.
You ask “what would you like to achieve this year”, well number 1 would be to see 2013!
Seriously though, my goal is to get to number 1 in my niche and stay there. This will involve building many backlinks and creating relationships with my fellow bloggers and becoming a respected commentator on the niche forums.
An addition goal is to top out on Kilimanjaro, a trip I am presently planning for July with family members and friends.
All the best for 2012 Barry, I am sure it will be even more succesful than last year if the quality of your new product is anything to go by.

Hi Barry,
I have never really had a mentor, but I’ve become friends with so many brilliant people, so I guess I can call them mentors, because they’ve sure helped me a lot. And that’s the important part.
I’m going to do a lot in 2012, and creating my own product will be top priority, a long with publishing my first novel. I’m hustling already… I know that 2012 will be a year of massive success for both of us
Too many people I talk to believe it’s easy to work online and become successful, that’s not true at all. But it’s a lot of fun, that’s what it is

Hi Jens, Happy New Year my friend.
You make a very good point about having good friends and learning from them. I’m always learning something new from Adrienne, and many others, just by visiting their blogs on a regular basis.
I heard that you were writing a novel, Adrienne mentioned on her blog a short time ago. Wow that’s some achievement and I wish you well with it.
Didn’t you finish an eBook a short time ago? I seem to recall a new product on your blog just a month or two ago.
I agree that it isn’t easy to become successful online. I tried for years to make it online before getting a mentor to show me the error of my ways. Mind you that time wasn’t all wasted as i now know what not to do
All the best for 2012 and your projects Jens, I wish you every success.

Barry,
I have had lots of self doubts in the past and still have them. They really hold me back. I have to work really hard to get past them.
I know the feeling of sitting in front of my computer and just pretending to be internet marketing. I have done that also.
I now have a plan for the year and really want to carry out that plan.
I am working on an eBook and want to get it done in a timely matter which I did not do last year.
I will have to say that last year was a really good year for me. I got my blog up and have made a lot of advances with that. I have learned a lot and am now working through both John Thornhill’s Master Class as well as Sally Neill’s Learn with Sally.
Glad to hear you are finishing your product. I hope to be there sometime in the near future with mine.

In 2012 I want to create my own products, build a good list, master social media marketing, start creating videos, and grow my business to more success.
But more importantly, I want to be MORE relaxed and learn not to be too hard on myself. And enjoy each day whether or not I’m working on my blog or making money.
Thank you for creating this post and the opportunity to think what I really want to achieve.

I was just saying to Adrienne earlier at my blog, my list just gets longer and longer. I’m going to get info overload soon.
For the moment, I have a product out end of Feb with JT which should be good. A PLR Monthly webinar with Dave net week. A mid year product launch and then maybe or hopefully a full coaching plan by the end of the year.
I also racked op 1125 hits on one of niche sites yesterday and it’s still spiking, so the signups are coming in and so are the Adsense earnings. I have decided to ramp this up too. Busy Busy Busy at the moment mate.
Good luck on your product launch Barry

Great to be here and read all these comments. As a newbie there is so much I want to achieve this year but I feel I have already learned a lot. Right now I am concentrating on Sally Neil’s 12 week plan. Thanks for the recommend, she is certainly a lady with a great story.
Also, I have just done test video on my Canon 5D Mk II as that’s one area I want to explore.
Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone here, wishing you all success for 2012!

I want to finish a product that I started last year! I put out another new eBook recently and got that on Amazon.
And I need to break some old habits and get back into the swing of things. Oh and of course making more videos. I just got done making one today about scrapbooking software that I am going to be giving away (kinda off the subject) but it is a start, I guess.
My goals that I had made on my first New Year’s post I guess were not well thought out and have to figure out how to get from a to b – still don’t know, honestly…as I am going through some rough stuff…but I want 2012 to be a big year for me…think I just need some kicks in the butt to get there
Too bad someone didn’t kick me in the butt last week and say “What are you thinking?” cause I really goofed on one of my goals in a big way! Oh well…it will be ok, I hope!
Good luck with your product launch – I see you are getting ready to set up an affiliate program – that is awesome!
Keep in touch, ok!
Linda
Hi Linda,
Congratulations on getting another product on Amazon, that’s a great to start the year
Creating videos are great, I love them, and it doesn’t matter what you’re creating them around as long as you’re creating them.
I think most of us have bad habits we’d like to break. I’m still trying to go on a distraction diet and focus on what is important first and then deal with the lesser important things once I’m done.
I’m sorry to hear that you think you’ve goofed on something Linda. Is it anything you can go back and change? When I get a chance I’ll head over and see the post you’re talking about and see if I can help in any way. Don’t know when that’ll be though as I’m really trying to finish the latest project, but I’ll try and get there real soon

Barry great inspirational post as always Barry, and happy New Year to you, it’s better late than never
Going back to your question do you ever suffer from self-doubt? Well for me I tend to feel self-doubt when others doubt what I’m doing will work and I get that an awful lot I’m sorry to say. It makes me question whether what I’m doing is worth the while at all as a semi-professional blogger, trying to make a living from blogging.
But this only lasts a few hours if that before I’m back in full swing again. I think being able to come to blogs like yours and Adrienne’s blog, are real motivational boosters for me personally and I’m sure I speak for many too.
Two of the things I’d love to be able to achieve this year is to have my own product worth selling and the other is to generate more sales without having to increase traffic largely, though increased traffic would also be nice.

Fabrizio I also had others thinking I was wasting my time online and doubting me, which in turn made me doubt myself which I think is what held me back for so long.
When i was in the pub telling my mates what I wanted to do I’d see the looks they gave each other, as if to say “yeah right another jerk that thinks he’ll make it online”. About a year ago I bumped into an old friend who asked what i was doing these days and when i told him he just raised his eyebrows as if to say say the same “jerk wasting time” kind of thing.
Some people just don’t get IT mate and they’re the ones still doing the same stuff today that they were doing when I was seeing them in the pubs, moaning about everything and never doing anything to change things.

Hi Barry,
Happy belated New Year mate. Was just reading over your post and could totally relate to what you were saying about the ”wasted years” I too played at being an online marketer for a couple of years before really getting my head down and making things happen for myself.
It can be a lonly old place when your first starting out in online business and without anyone to push or guide you, you really can find yourself going around in circles without really getting anywhere fast.
In fact I remember the summer of 2008 really well, it’s when I had just got started in online business and was working from home. It just so happened that it also coincided with Euro 2008 and I actually found myself watching around 3 games a day without ever really putting pen to paper or moving my online business foward at all.
Anyway I’m glad that has all changed now and one of the main reasons it did was that I found myself a mentor just like you did. It makes a massive difference when you have someone there to guide you and provide you deadlines and it’s something I always recommend to my new readers.
Anyway, glad to see you are doing so well. Keep up the great work on your blog, it looks awsome!
Steve Wilkins.
Steve Wilkins recently posted..Your Questions Answered
Hi Steve, Happy New Year mate.
Our paths do seem very similar Steve, wasting years going in circles and never really getting anywhere. I liken it to a dot to dot puzzle without the numbers and never being able to join the dots to form a clear picture
It sure is a lonely place to be and without the discipline needed I tended to look for distractions when things got a little complicated. With nobody to answer to I was free to do as I pleased and quite often done so…… Not the way to build a business, is it?
I also remember Euro 2008 Steve, I had bought a few hundred England car flags before they missed qualification and you know what happened next. Needless to say I didn’t make a single sale
A mentor does make all the difference to every aspect of building a business. Focus, discipline, direction and numbers on the dot to dot puzzle. Like you Steve I recommend that people get a mentor and stop struggling alone in their bubbles, that’s just a waste of time and effort.
Thanks Steve.
Take care mate,
Barry

Hi Barry,
Good to see you had a good year last year! I have enjoyed watching you grow and improve.
You shouldn’t doubt yourself anymore! You are very capable of creating your own coaching very soon I am sure!
It is funny how things work out. I started my online journey in July 2008 when I first took JT’s original coaching, and for the last few years until @Aug last year I have been studying part time trying to crack this internet marketing code following bells and whistles.
However in Aug last year, my daughters part time day carer had a baby and my little one was back home in full time care with me. This meant I had very limited time online.
At first I didn’t know what to do, but then I got thought about planning this business out. It was the best decision I have made. Having a plan on what to do keeps you focused, it keeps you in check and stops you getting side tracked.
My plan will take about 18 months to implement, it is going to be a slow process, but I do know that once all the foundations are in place I will have a rock solid business in the future.
This year is all about email marketing and list building for me. Every one will say you have to list build, however I also believe you have to set up the email campaigns to build a relationship with your list first. There is no point having a big list if we don’t stay in touch with them.
Speaking of which better get back to creating templates.
See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta

Hi Jacinta,
Were your ears burning? I was being interviewed yesterday and during it I was asked how i first came across Sally Neill, which of course was during the 100 Blog Comment Challenge that you organized
Self doubt for me is now a thing of the distant past Jacinta. I do plan of having my own coaching in the near future, which is purpose of this post. To put the feelers out to see what people want to achieve/create this year. I have something in mind and once I’ve finished my current projects I’ll be putting it all together
Sorry to hear about your daughter’s day care coming to a stop. Kind of threw a spanner in your works didn’t it…. But every cloud has a silver lining and now you’re planning everything out for the future, which is excellent Jacinta.
Like you said, having a plan helps keep us focused and disciplined on what to do and when to do it
18 months isn’t long Jacinta, and like you said you’ll then have good solid foundations in place. Like they say “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and the coliseum is still standing thousands of years later.
You’re very wise to get your email campaigns set up first and so build the all important relationship with your subscribers. It goes back to the Know Like and Trust aspect that we all need to build for our long term success.
I’m on your list Jacinta and I look forward to seeing it all unfold
Best of luck with everything mate
Take care,
Barry
PS. How’s your nephew coming along now? Still making huge progress I hope.

My biggest goal for this year, Barry, is to get my latest product finished. It’s the biggest product I have produced so far, with a combination of documents and videos, so there’s lots to do. I am ploughing through Sally’s replays to learn more about video production, and that is taking some time as I need to practise each step a few times before I get it right. I’m a slow learner! Good luck with your goals, Barry, I know you’ll take great steps this year as you are already on the right road.
Enjoy the journey.

Dear Barry,
I love these focus-goal times of the year where people really delve into what it is they’re going to achieve. I’ve been calibrating myself over the past several months because that’s just how I roll. I’m not much for resolutions, because the word implies a sort of “fixer” to a problematic situation…I’m more along the lines of your mindset here. I am purpose-driven and believe more in setting true intentions which I follow through with.
I started working these intentions around late October of 2011, call me an early bird! lol What I’m working toward is more visibility in terms of what I bring to the internet marketing world and to newcomer bloggers in the community. I aspire to be a more widely recognizable go-giver, in the style you present, as well as one of my faves, Adrienne Smith.
I also am working toward a very exciting personal project which I’ve been working on for a few months. This is a marketing funnel system for my primary business which I’m building at this time and turning into a training membership and mentoring program for those who are working with me in my primary business.
Thanks for giving me a place to sound off and share!
